Northeast Michigan Great Lakes Stewardship Initiative partners, Michigan Natural Features Inventory (MNFI) and the Presque Isle Conservation District, are collaborating for a vernal pool teacher training event. Registration is required. Space is limited to 30 people to minimize impact on the pool monitored during the training.
This professional development workshop is designed to enhance understanding of the interactions between social and environmental systems in our communities and how to integrate those concepts into the classroom. Explore topics of environmental justice, climate change, and climate justice and apply that understanding toward place-based stewardship education (PBSE) teaching practice.
Groundswell will host its annual Student Project Showcase for educators, community members, students, and families. Groundswell is proud to celebrate the work of student stewards in an interactive event with participating K12 schools. This institute will deepen participants' understanding of 3-dimensional and place-based learning through field explorations that explore subjects such as climate change, geoheritage, and garden health. Up to 7 SCECH per day are available.
