Agriscience students from the Newaygo County Career-Tech Center were offered the opportunity to address the lack of shoreline vegetation at Fremont Lake. Students researched the possible effects of this problem as well as possible solutions. They determined that restoring the shoreline with native plants would be the best solution, and their research informed their project plans and design.
I could see this project being replicated in our region. Was this a piece of private or public land? How did you communicate with land owners or patrons visiting the lake? Was there a maintenance plan included in the planning/development of the restoration?
