Join Renaissance High School students, SEMIS Coalition staff, and Detroit community partners to see how a community walk can help launch place-based inquiry and action. As part of NOAA’s Environmental Literacy Program, SEMIS uses community walks for students to practice science skills, learn about each other and the surrounding community, meet neighbors and local leaders, get outside, and have fun. As Renaissance students explore topics like sustainability and climate change in their classroom, community walks help students connect these topics to actions they can take in their cities and neighborhoods.
